History
The power of “sisterhood” was birthed in 2000. Grief-stricken over the loss of her son to cancer, Sister Kennedy surrendered to the love and support from her five biological sisters. It became apparent to Sister Kennedy, that her sisters’ unyielding devotion helped her realize the indispensable power of “sisters united” and subsequently, “Sister to Sister Interdenominational Women’s Fellowship” emerged. Since 2000, the ministry has grown to involve many Leading Ladies of the religious community as well as First Ladies and Pastors of diverse denominations in the Denver Metropolitan area.
The first conference was held in 2000 and ministered to an audience of over 1,000 women. Many trailblazers in the international religious community have shared gifts, talents and a Rhema Word from God through this ministry. Women such as Dr. Rita Twiggs, Pastor Jackie McCollough, Prophetess Kimberly Daniels, Evangelist and Psalmist, Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole, Dr. Cindy Trimm, Dr. Naida Parsons, Dr. Yvonne Capehart, Prophetess Marcia Morrison, Pastor Cheryl Brady and Pastor Jacqueline Queen, Psalmists Tamela Mann and Martha Munnizi, Trumpeter Syreeta Thompson, Psalmists Vickie Yohe, Denise Tichenor, Shirley Murdock, Dr. Karen Taylor and Sunday’s Best, Alexis Spight, Co-Pastor Susie Owens, Evangelist Sharon Seay-Whitelaw, Evangelist Shondell Douglass, and Pastor Kim Burrell are but a few. Over the 15-year period, these women have left an indelible mark on the S2S organization. Sister to Sister also cherishes the ministry of the countless women in the state of Colorado who, never bound by denomination, willingly surrendered self-sacrificing support year after year.
Over the 15-year span, the Sister-to-Sister conference has supported an astonishing number of believers from various denominations, ethnic groups and socioeconomic classes who participate in the teaching workshops and services that were designed to encourage and facilitate spiritual growth. Sister Kennedy’s vision has been realized through the testimonies of many, who were healed of emotional distresses and losses through the love and support of sisters, who like them, needed unyielding devotion and the indispensable power of “sisters united.”
Additionally, Sister-to-Sister supports a component for young girls aged 12-18, “Little Sisters” as well as, young adults aged 19-30, “Little Sisters, All Grown-Up”. The Little Sisters branches were developed to empower the young women with symposiums centered on the development of positive self-images, academic excellence, and purity, life skills, financial planning and transitional health & home.
The Sister-to-Sister Interdenominational Women’s Fellowship Conferences have been featured in the Yes Lord! Now magazine, Denver Weekly News and the Body of Christ newspaper, DayStar Network and LeSEA Broadcasting Network for its success in reaching a vast population of women in the city and surrounding communities who bear witness of transformed lives.
