What Does It Mean to WATCH?

The word “watch” in Scripture often comes from the Greek word grēgoreō, meaning to stay awake, to be vigilant, to be alert, to keep guard.\

It’s not passive. It’s active awareness—like a soldier on a night shift, a gatekeeper at the city wall, or a prophet discerning the times.

 Why WATCHING Matters: 5 Powerful Biblical Examples

1. Jesus in Gethsemane – Matthew 26:40-41

“Could you not WATCH with Me one hour? Watch and pray, that you may not enter into temptation.”

Takeaway: Jesus linked watching with overcoming temptation and staying strong in spirit when the flesh is weak.
